Zva Creative November DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcomes you to join us this November for a blog hop that we feel is always extra special because it is the first hop for many of our new 2011-12 team members! We also thought it would be more fun to add even more chances to win our blog hop prize! See details below.

As you know, Zva offers many beautiful color groupings for pearls, flowers and crystals. We want to make sure that they shine bright for you, so each designer was asked to share a creation using a specific color or color combination on their blog hop project. If you like Zva's products you can find a list stores and online retailers that sell Zva HERE.

The Blog Hop begins at Windy Robinson's blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating in case there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, just follow along the blog path. I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way!

Hidden on FIVE of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package! Winners will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts today, November 28th and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, November 29th.

The 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, November 30th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Windy Robinson's blog as well. We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday... plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there.

All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. However, the more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

To increase your chances of winning:

* Comment to let us know that you posted on your Facebook page about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)
* Comment to let us know that you "tweeted" about our hop (link to any of the blog hop posts)

* Comment to let us know that you asked your local store to carry Zva creative products. If they already do, that's fantastic, maybe you can suggest other products that they don't carry

Today I'd like to share sweet vintage Christmas Card that I created with the non traditional colours of purple and lavendar using the beautiful pearl flourishes and mini roses blossoms from ZVA Creative.   The papers I used are from Graphic 45's Christmas Past Collection and they conbine just the right amounts of red, green and purple to showcases the beautiful bling.
So you have FOUR chances on each blog to win one of our FIVE prizes! That's a lot of chances to win!

The blog hop begins at the blog of Windy Robinson
Your next stop is here: Andrea Ewen

Thank you for joining us!

P.S. Next month's blog hop will be happening one week early so mark your calendar to join us on Monday, December 19th for another inspiring Zva blog hop!

Ballerina Girl

My friend and I love to swap clothes with one another. Because her little girl is 5, all her 'hand me downs' go to my daughter and all my sons' clothes go to her little boy. Its a win-win situation! We had just finished a playdate and had each exchanged bags full of clothes. I was so excited to go through each piece! It was when my daughter and I came across the 'ballerina dress' that she gasped with delight. Oh mommy, a REAL ballerina dress! We promptly put on our new treasure and of course mommy went a little crazy snapping photos of her wee ballerina girl.
The 7 Dots Design Team was asked to do a Laboratory assignment, to focus our project on 'photo booth strips', which fit perfectly with the dozens of photos I had taken that day. I was so excited to be able to choose more than one photo for my layout - LOL!

The gorgeous colours in Elise Rebel were simply perfect. Grey tones paired with the brilliant turquoise and soft patterns were simply gorgeous and complimented one another wonderfully! I also included some old film strips on either side of my photos, to make them seem more like a genuine photostrip.
The beautiful rose blossoms and crystal flourishes are from ZVA Creative.
Thanks for popping by today! Hope you have a wonderful rest of the weekend!

Altered Rocking Horse - Le Cirque Style!

I found another thrift store treasure!! This rocking horse was originally a cherry wood with a horrid, white mane made from yarn! I just loved the playful feel to this piece and knew it must be altered!! I was originally going to use the Christmas Emporium collection, but decided upon the brightly coloured Le Cirque papers from Graphic 45 instead.

The tail is made from twine and attached with a Graphic 45 metal button!  I made the saddle by bending one of Graphic 45's ornate metal plates and adorning with bits of fussy cut patterns from the paper.

Thanks so much for your visit today!!  Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

All That Glitters is Gold

Today I'd love to share with you, a project created for one of my 7 Dots Studio assignments.  In this monthly project the design team was asked to share creations inspired by Cultural Extras including art, music, books and movies, traditions and customs. Today we start with one of the most recognisable songs of the XX century: “Stairway to Heaven” by Led Zeppelin

I had so much fun with our assignment - there were endless possibilities on how to interpret such a beautiful piece.
Firstly, I wanted to keep the overall feel to my project very light and airy - to represent the sky. I chose to focus on tones of blue and white primarily - especially towards the top of my layout.
I decided to tier the bottom level of my project to represent a stairway. The title has been taken from part of the lyrics in the song...
I just love all the coordinating stickers and elements that are part of this gorgeous Dreamer collection. Here I decided to frame one of the stickers with some inked grungeboard. I accented this embellishment (as well as several others throughout the project) with metal to represent the 'heavy metal' band Led Zepplin.
Lots of soft layers here - just love having the page look 'full'. The musical note paper was included to represent the 'song' and I added some wings to myself to represent 'angels in heaven'.
Many people have argued that when played backwards, this song has a hidden satanical meaning. I chose to include hidden journaling to represent this message.
I quoted the lyrics on my journaling "and a new day will dawn, for those who stand long, and the forest will echo with laughter". I love this particular part of the song. To me, it simply means, when you are going through a difficult time in your life, if you stay strong and don't give up, eventually, everything will work out and everything will be ok. Love this.
Some more close up shots of the metal pieces I've incorporated into this project as well as the soft scalloped layers which I've meant to represent the clouds.
Some more lovely stickers that I've hilighted by framing in a grungeboard frame.

Thank you so much for your visit today!

Mommy, My Tooth Came Out!

We had a special visitor last night!  The tooth fairy made her third appearance to our house (which was WAY overdue) and left 3 shiny coins and a special, tiny, 'tooth fairy' letter for my son.  I am SO glad that Mr. tooth decided to come out - finally! Funny thing is, the front tooth beside the one that fell out - is much, much more loose than the one that fell out last night.  I think we'll be having another visit within the week ;>
Will be back tomorrow to share some 7 Dots love!! Here's a little peek.....
A demain...

All My Heart

Today, on this very special Remembrance Day, the Bo Bunny designers were asked to create a special project to showcase what we were thankful for.  Top of my list: Family.
I decided to use the elegant new Enchanted Collection from Bo Bunny.  LOVE the monochromatic colours of black and white.  Although I kept my palette neutral, you could very easily bring in several complimentary colours to this line - pink, blue, etc. would look amazing.

The gorgeous pearls and pearl flourishes are from ZVA Creative and they just 'fit' so well with the classic elegance of this collection.

Thank you so much for your visit today!  Hope you all have a wonderful and memorable Remembrance day.  (PS - going to make the most EPIC wish EVER at exactly 11:11am.....)
