Earth Angel

The March kit is now available from Scrapbook Star! It is soooo very beautiful and features some amazing papers from Crate! So playful and colourful - you are sure to adore them! There is also a fabulous die cut from Basic Grey which I felt stood wonderfully on its own. I decided to pair it with simple, white cardstock.

Firstly, I flipped the die cut on its back and misted with my Walnut Ink onto the white Bazzill to create a mask. After centering with the brown cardstock the die cut stands out wonderfully.

I proceeded to trace around my new masked pattern with 3D paint from Tulip to accentuate the shape.

All in all a very basic layout but I felt that because the die cut was so intricate, little in the form of embellies or additional patterned papers were needed.

Stay tuned later this week for some reveals from My Creative Scrapbook!!

Just can't get enough!!

You guessed it - another Petaloo layout! I also added in a good measure of Graphic 45 papers as they fit so well with the worn/rustic feel of the flowers!

These gorgeous blooms from Petaloo are their Flora Doodles Collection and for this layout I used Delila, Bristol and Sweat Peas - as well as their Color Me Crazy Embossed Leaves. I still can't get over the amount of variety in these flowers and the texture is to die for!

Some More Petaloo

I created this layout with some older papers from my stash (Making Memories Die Cut Delaney Stamp and some My Mind's Eye) and mixed them with a little Bo Bunny Persuasion and of course, the new CHA Releases from Petaloo.

I really can't seem to get enough of the Color Me Crazy Flower layers - they are just so versatile! I decided to keep them white and ink slightly around the edges to give them a little deapth. The centres are the new Tiffany's Treasures Jeweled Centres by Petaloo.

A few little tricks: I bought the heart doilies on sale at Michaels. I inked the edges of one brown and cut the middle of another out and glued together to pick up the browns in the photo.

The bling swirls were also originally clear but I used StazOn ink (love that stuff) and inked them brown to match. You can actually do that with anything really. StazOn sticks to everything and doesn't rub off like some inks will. I still go to my Distress Inks for paper but when I need something with real staying power, StazOn it is.

Lash Envy

Here's the second layout I've completed with Petaloo's new CHA Releases! Aren't the colours to die for?

This layout features their new Tyed Dyed Gypsies flowers and the Tiffany's Treasures Jewel Centres in Ruby Red.

The papers are Jenni Bowlin and worked so well with the colours in the flowers. Thanks so much for the visit. Be sure to check back in the next day or so - I've got a few more things up my sleeves!

Debut Layout for PETALOO!

Ok, so I've been given the green light to show some of the new CHA stuff from Petaloo - Yippie!

I created this layout using Petaloo's innovative Color Me Crazy Line. These flowers are so gorgeous and start out as a white canvas just waiting for you to pretty them up! (or in my case, to leave as is and let the beautiful texture shine through!)

Beautiful aren't they? Trust me, they're better in real life! The Wild Roses that I used are so romantic that I just had to keep the entire layout soft to compliment them.

I also used the Color Me Crazy Embossed Leaves and sprayed with glimmer mist to give just a hint of color.

The Flower layers come in a huge bag and there are various sizes and shapes to layer with - perfect for finishing touches. The little wood fence was purchased at my local craft store and I simply painted it white and inked the edges.

Thank you so much Cheryl M. for the amazing opportunity and to Cheryl & Jeff for believing in me!

Stay tuned later in the weekend for some more Petaloo goodness!

A Little Inspiration

Ok, I'm embarrassed to admit that I've been hopelessly sucked into the entire Twilight Saga! On my vacation, I read 3 of the 4 books and just last night finished the 4th (definately the best of the 4). I've seen the 1st movie and am anxiously awaiting the DVD release of New Moon! (I know, get a life!)

Anyhow, I cannot stop playing this song - over and over again. It is SO soothing. I have decided to learn to play it on the piano (I actually do/did play so its not too daunting a task, but finding the time and a spare piano may prove otherwise).

River Flows in You

On a scrappy note: I've been patiently awaiting my 1st Petaloo package to arrive so I can get busy with all the yummy goodies and so many gorgeous types of blooms! Scrapbook Star has sent out the March kit for me to play with and I cannot wait to see what Sam has included this month. I have been finishing off my final Jenni Bowlin layouts for Scrapbook News & Review Magazine and I cannot wait to show you all - they turned out so much better than I had hoped. The Baby Girl and Baby Boy lines are so sweet and so different than the Red and Black Vintage papers - but I love 'em all!. So many fun things in store in the next month - stay tuned!

Sugar Rush with a Rustic Edge

As promised, here is the layout I completed last night featuring Basic Grey's new Sugar Rush line. I apologize for the poor quality photos - weather man was wrong about the sun today....

I think I'll have to do at least one more layout with these papers - they are truely yummy with such intense colours - deep oranges, raspberries, and quite wonderful designs - not too overpowering in their patterns.

I chose the less intense colours for this layout to match the colours in the photo and to tie in with the whole 'boy' theme... The element stickers are so fun to work with too - of course they match perfectly with the papers!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Stuff to Share

I know its been forever since I've posted some layouts - tsk, tsk! I HAVE done a LOT lately, but of course they must remain hidden until Feb/March.

SO...

The guilt trip seems to have worked. I'm working on one now and should have it completed by tomorrow. Its nice to take a bit of a break from my 'duties' and just scrap for fun every now and again. Keeps it authentic and reminds me which styles I naturally gravitate towards without trying to include certain papers or embellies required by kits, manufacturers, etc. I actually LIKE both sides of the coin - the freedom of choosing your own papers, mediums, inks, photos, embellies, etc. and the challenge of receiving kits or manufacturer's products and working them into my own style while still trying to maintain the significance of the products for each company.

I've got some Basic Grey Sugar Rush papers that I received from Kelly Goree as part of a contest that I had won a little while back. When I first saw the papers I was like, hmmmm.... not really my thing - VERY bright, flowery patterns but then I played around with them a little, added my own rustic edge and I think I like the finished project. You'll see tomorrow.

Until then...

I'm Baaaack!

WOW, Going on about 34 hours without sleep here so you'll have to pardon the lack of substance to this post! What a wonderfully, relaxing time I had last week! My mom and sister had absolutely no idea - such a perfect surprise. I managed to do nothing at all for the entire week - aside from soak up the sun, de-stress and read all 3 of the Twilight novels - blah! Hadn't paid much attention to the whole hype but after reading all 3 of the books, I have to admit that I can't WAIT to see the movies now - ugh.... sucked in!

Here are a few pics from the trip.

There were so many sea turtles right where we were swimming - I actually reached out and touched one - so cool!

3 Amigos! My mom, sis and I.

EEEWWWEEEE!! Another 'guest'.... in our room we found 2! I nearly died!

As relaxed as I'm gonna get - LOVE Hawaii soooo much!

Hoping to post more scrappy stuff for everyone by the end of this week!
