Power of Love

Here is another layout I wanted to share with you all using the beautiful October Kit from Scrap That! As you can see - lots of cork on this layout!! I just love how well it works with punches and how versatile this medium is!

The combination of earthy tones in the Scribble Scrabble papers lend to a rustic/earthy feel when combined with the cork and I adore the warm, rich feel of the outcome.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Cork Tutorial

Who would have thought that this great medium could be used for scrapping as well!?

The sheet of cork included in the October kit from target="new browser">Scrap That! is perfectly thin enough to do just about anything you would want to do with a piece of paper. I had so much fun experimenting with my cork and found the following cool uses:

As a matting behind a photo
Painted and used as a piece of background 'paper'
Stamped and cut out to use as an embellishment
Punched with any of your punches to create flowers, circles, etc
Punched with your border punches to create decorative trim

The possibilities are endless. I decided to take it one step further and see if I could create a 'fan flower' that everyone had been asking about in a few of my previous layouts. Although a titch brittle when 'bent' the cork can be reinforced with a sheet of cardstock or patterned paper and transformed into a gorgeous fan flower as shown in my tutorial below.

Thanks so much for stopping by!! Have fun creating your 'cork' blooms!!!

Zva Creative September DT Blog Hop!

The Zva Designers are joining together again today to share a project that we have created using some of our favorite Zva Creative products. I am hoping that you will take some time to join us for a little bit of fun again this month!

The Blog Hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog. She will have the complete list of all blogs that are participating incase there is a glitch along the way. If you would like to play along, I am linking to one of the Zva designers and that designer is linking to the next and so on. Be prepared to be inspired along the way. Hidden on 5 of the blogs is a Zva Creative prize package ...YAY! Those blogs will be randomly chosen after the hop is over, so it's important to leave a comment on as many blogs as you can along the way.

The Blog Hop starts now and runs through midnight US Eastern Standard Time on Tuesday, September 28th and the 5 winners will be announced on Wednesday, September 29th on each of the five winning blogs. The full list will be found on Kim Hughes‘s blog as well (linked above).

We will do our best to notify each winner, but it's best if you can pop in to all of the blogs once again on Wednesday...plus, you never know what kind of inspirational creation that you may find there. All you need to do is leave a comment on this Zva Blog Hop post...you do not need to leave a comment on each and every designer's blog post to qualify. The more times you leave a comment along the blog hop path though, the more chances you will have to be one of the lucky winners.

Adore the fact that ZVA has so many different types of bling!! For this project I used some Navy Pearl Flourishes which went perfectly with the grungy papers I used.

The blog hop begins at Kim Hughes' blog.
Your next stop is at Kim Moreno's Blog.

Thank you SO MUCH for joining us!

Sun Shine?

My sweet little thing - my ray of sunshine even at her gloomiest! I created this layout using the gorgeous October kit from Scrap That! Featuring gorgeous fall inspired papers from Scribble Scrabble and Graphic 45's Steampunk you are sure to be inspired by the amazing palette of colours. The flowers and doilies included in the kit will add the perfect balance to your pages.

I've inked my doily in this layout to match with the warm browns in the papers and painted my alphas (originally black) with 3D paint to blend with the rest of the layout. All the sunflowers and leaf flourishes have been fussy cut from patterned paper.

The flowers included with the kit are part of DT member Vicky's ETSY products and are so wonderful to use! I kept the ones on this layout their natural colour but they can easily be misted, inked or painted to suit your needs.

Things I Am Grateful For...

As mentioned, I am teaching several paper crafting classes at my local craft store and mini albums happen to be one of my recent faves. They are fantastic keepsakes and make wonderful gifts - especially with the holidays fast approaching. The theme for this mini album was "Grateful For" and I included several of my personal faves.

Cover. This was actually quite easy to achieve considering the amazing patterns and photos on Graphic 45's paper lines. I simply added some butterflies and lace and voila!

Where I live. I adore my little town. I go on the same walk everyday with my kids and never get tired of the views. We are right on the water and it is honestly such a wonderful, historic and friendly little city. I am so lucky to live where I do.

Grande Dark. Every day. By 9:30am if possible.

My craft time. I adore this wonderful outlet called Scrapbooking - ADORE it and I cherish each and every second I get to 'play'.

Dear Hubby. So grateful to have a wonderful man I can call my best friend. He makes me feel safe and secure. He is an amazing father and my perfect match in life. Love him to bits!

Quinn. Little peanut. My energizer bunny who can't sit still for even 2 seconds. So sensitive, generous, affectionate, caring, sweet little boy. My life would be very boring without him.

Owen. Golden boy. Straight as an arrow, first born, plays by the rules, stubborn as nails (gets that from me and dad), leader (some call it bossy), crazy handsome, prince charming.

Wine. I'm not picky although I've been trying to 'like' red as its healthier. This goes hand in hand with scrapping - most nights, once the kids are in bed.... ahhhhh!

Eden. My little sparkplug - my little firecracker who challenges EVERY rule and EVERY request. You keep me on my toes and are the first to be concerned if someone is hurt or crying. You are very much like your brother Quinn in this regard. You have a mind of your own and are not afraid to 'voice' your opinion.... extremely loudly most of the time.

My mom. Best friend to whom I can confide in about everything. Has always sheltered me (and those she cares about) from anything that I don't need to know or that would in some way hurt, scare, worry me unnecessarily. Lives to please others - not a selfish bone in her body. Generous, considerate, shy, reserved, fantastic cook, my idol.

My Family. So lucky to have all of you in my life. So lucky we are happy, healthy and together. Love you more than anything else in this world.

Back Cover.

That's all for today. Be back soon with some more yummy projects and don't forget ZVA Creative is having a blog hop on September 26th - hope you can hop along too!

Family Printers Tray

Here's another project that I will be teaching at my craft store next month. The 7 Gypsies trays are HUGE right now - big time!! I had to get my hands on one. I must admit however, that I thought they were quite a bit larger? When I had seen them posted online, I was under the assumption that they were quite large?? They measure approx. 10 x 12 inches - so slightly 'smaller' than a sheet of patterned paper!?

I decided to pair with Graphic 45's Steampunk line - for OBVIOUS reasons! HELLO!!! LOVE these papers - I tell ya, I WILL design for this company one day!

Its really quite simple once you get going - think of each tiny square as an ATC almost and add as many details as possible. I tried to have the whole project flow together and in doing so, stuck to one colour grouping/theme and accented with some Petaloo Color me Crazy blooms which I misted to coordinate with the papers.

Thanks for stopping by!! Hope your week is off to a good start!
