Worth the Wait

I adore TEXTURE on my pages and this one is simply ooozzzzing with different fibres - lace, paint, cardboard, corkboard, bling - nummo!!!

Here's a layout I did of my ds waiting ever so patiently for me to take his photo. Always looking for that perfect moment to snap the shot and this time I captured the moment wonderfully. Can't you just see the annoyance in his look - LOL!

I used the Glittered sheets from Petaloo to mat the photo. My roses were created from the Flora Doodles Value pack - I simply altered them just a titch by cutting off a few petals, gluing together, and curling the petals (same as the rose tutorial really...) I just love the texture of them.

The bling is from Zva Creative - well, one of them is at least (the one on the bottom is the one I made). When you remove the crystals from the transparent sheet they leave behind a slight indentation. You can use this sheet to create your own bling by tracing the dots left behind with 3D paint. Once dried, I cut out and ended up with my own little bling! (Thanks to Gabi for this idea!)

I purchased a package of very thin corkboard at Daiso which I used as a background piece as well as a die cut shape under the photo. SO easy to work with and I just love the texture it offers.

The 2 kinds of lace were also purchased at Daiso - CHEAP!! I painted and misted them to match my papers. The doily was also purchased at the dollar store - just painted it black and glimmer misted it a bit too. Man, come to think of it, I am definately a thrify gal eh? I just get so excited when I find a sweet deal - can't resist!

The paper is from Crate's Prudence collection - perfect for boy layouts (although I did manage to add flowers didn't I?) TFL!

Palette #3

The Color Room has their third palette up for inspiration. This was a definate challenge for me - purple! I don't think I've ever used this colour in a layout or project - ever!

This was also my first go using canvas. Thanks to Finn for all your advise - you MUST check out her blog for canvas inspiration - this lady is crazy talented!

This is a series of photos of my dd giving herself a yogurt face mask! I had given her desert after lunch and went to check my emails and not even 5 min later I return to her COVERED in yogurt. She was smoothing it all over and had the biggest smile on her face - must've liked the texture?

I applied some burlap to the canvas and tried painting it white, but didn't quite achieve the look I was after - might need to add a little more paint... we'll see!

The gorgeous purple blooms are from Petaloo's Mulberry Street Line - Wild Roses in Eggplant.

The small turquoise blooms were purchased at Daiso - they are actually made from foam?!
TFL!

A Few Cards

Cards?? I know, its a stretch but just had to try my hand at a few more of these babies and then I'll be back to my regular scheduled program - LOL!

All these cards feature the Dazzlers Collection by Petaloo. The birthday line is so totally adorable and versatile for kids and even adults. All the glitter embellishments have self adhesive foam raised backs and the glitter is applied by hand so there is very little shedding when handled or even cut.

TFL - Enjoy your Saturday! Its pouring rain today and we've got soccer - ick! Come on sun!

The April 2010 Issue is Now Available

If you haven't already had a peek, the April 2010 Issue of Scrapbook News and Review Magazine is Now Available! Check it out for a ton of inspiration and gorgeous eye candy!

APRIL 2010

I also wanted to share this little keychain I made the other night using Petaloo's Glittered Papers and Sequins.

I applied it to grungeboard, added some grungeboard swirls (which I inked first) and then added some glossy accents and voila - a monogram keychain!

Natural Beauty

Here is a layout I made of my darling sweetie! She will be 2 in another month and I cannot believe how much she's changed and grown! She is talking up a storm and holds her own with her older brothers!

As most of you know, my weakness is gorgeous patterned papers. The majority of my layouts are inspired by amazing papers and photos of my kiddos. I simply fell in love with this vintage paper by The Girls' Paperie and HAD to have it. Check out Scrapbook Star's New Arrivals if you want some!

This layout features glitter and bling to the max! I didn't think I'd know what to do when I received my goodies from Petaloo this month. Glitter, glitter EVERYWHERE! EEK! Anyhow, I ended up transforming the product to suit my style and I think it ended up quite fine - LOL! There aren't any 'rules' in scrapbooking and I think that's what I like about it so much - you can do whatever you want and nobody will question it! There's no such thing as a 'mistake'!

For this layout I used the Dazzlers Collection by Petaloo.

Here is a close up of the roses I made from the Glittered Sheets - they are so wonderfully textured that they actually feel like material. The glitter is applied by hand rather than by machine and as a result there is very little lost when you cut or shape the product. I was very impressed by this as I am normally wearing more of the glitter than my project is when I normally work with glittered chipboard, etc.

I also made some butterflies and a trim for the photo with the Glittered Sheets - so versatile. I ended up spraying the lace with my Shimmerz Spritz (Red Barn) and then adding some Dazzlers Sequins where the flowers were. These little babies are perfect for flower centres, edging, making your own swirls, etc. LOVE them!

These flowers are actually the Flora Doodles Blooms (Value Bag in Pink/Black/White/Grey) but were just too cutsie for me. I tend to prefer the 3D type of blooms and these ones were the 7 petal flat ones. Don't get me wrong, they are wonderfully gorgeous flowers, but I needed something more 'vintage' for this layout so I decided to alter them. The tiny blooms are Dazzlers florettes - so sweet!

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Did I Mention....

I don't do cards? Seriously.... at all!

But... when I received my package of Petaloo goodies this month it was full of sparkle and fun - the products were begging to be 'carded'.

This is what I came up with...

Don't you just love those little cupcakes!? Petaloo Dazzlers are soooo yummy!

Enjoy your Monday!

GCD Stuff

Loved this Artsy Urban collection by GCD. Amazing colours and patterns.

Core'dinations' whitewash cardstock was so neat - when you distress it, it reveals the second colour.

Just a simple, silly layout with my mom and I. This paper was so gorgeous! Perfectly textured and the bold hue was so elegant that I didn't do much to embellish - a few stickles and some butterflies added just the right amount of bling!

You've seen this posted before - here are the close ups.

Really did fall in love with this one - not my normal style to incorporate black - especially with a winter (white) photo but it just worked. I often admire those layouts I see that are grungy and include black as accent pieces and after trying this myself, I think will have to implement more frequently!

Close up of some misting and those gorgeous butterflies.

Just a simple 12 inch circle doily that I purchased at the dollar store ($1.00 for a package of 6) and painted black.

Thanks for dropping by tonight!

SEI

Another bit of fun - SEI Wintersong... I know, its the spring but wasn't allowed to show these off until now. I apologize if you've seen these posted on the forums and blogs - simply forgot to update my own blog!!

Based on one of Beggahuna's sketches - such a talent that lady!

My little peanuts fast asleep in the stroller~

Some of this paper was just amazing - can you see the textured velvet!?

This is totally NOT my regular style, but it just worked for these photos and this paper.

Holy layers!!

You've already seen this layout in a previous post - but here are the close ups as well.

Some handmade roses - love these babies. I know many of you have asked how to make these and if I have time, I will definately get a tutorial posted for you - they are super easy, even moreso if you have a 6 petal flower punch...

A Little (LOT of) Jenni Bowlin While I'm Waiting

Hi All - I'm anxiously awaiting for my May Kit to arrive from Scrapbook Star - think BOLD AND BRIGHT colours! And my new shipment from Petaloo should be on my doorstep any day now - think glittery and fun! Can't WAIT!

In the meantime I thought I'd share with you a few layouts that I completed quite awhile back but am not sure I shared on my blog (forgive me if you've seen these posted elsewhere).

Jenni Bowlin - bless your soul. Just totally fell in love with that Red/Black Vintage line!

Lots of big patterns here and I decided to mount it all on some kraft coloured cardstock and then fussy cut out the florals. I then mounted the entire project on kraft cardstock as the background piece.

Lots of fussy cutting here - I outlined everything in black so it would stand out a little better.

Fell in love with this photo of my dd in her raincoat. Lots of stuff going on in this project, but I think everything still ties in well without any one piece overpowering another. Balance is definately key when you have bold colours and bold patterns.

Some more fussy cutting and a little glossy accents to help the branches stand out a little better.

Of course the flowers are Petaloo - Color Me Crazy collection which I inked to match the deep reds in the patterned paper. Added a little of my own bling, some doodling and voila!

I tried to keep everything dainty and delicate with this layout. All the little touches here and there make a big difference overall.

You've seen this posted before - here are the close ups as well!

LOVE fussy cutting! A little bling, some calendar cards and you're good to go!

The most perfect, delicate, felt butterflies around!

Wasn't sure if adding black to these papers would work, but by tying in a black title and metal frame, I think it balances out okay in the end??

Some glimmer mist to complete the slightly grungy edge.

You can see the dimension on the frame now - is super heavy actually - looks a lot better in real life!

Here are the 'blue' butterflies that I inked and coated in glitter glue.
