Hi again! Welcome to the next open challenge in the Laboratory of 7 Dots Studio! This time our creative efforts were focused on Hearts which have leading roles in many collages, layouts cards and more.

I love doilies!! L  O  V  E them. Actually, I think I use them on 99% of my projects – LOL! When this newest challenge was posted for the Design Team, I was so excited as I had just recently purchased a bunch of heart shaped doilies from my local thrift store that were perfectly suited!!

Zva Creative May DT Blog Hop!

Zva Creative and our talented Design Team welcome you to join us for our May Blog Hop! We are happy to have you join us and hope you enjoy all that we have to share with you along the way!

Sleeping Beauty

Can you remember your favorite book from your childhood? This month's Cultural Extras challenge from 7 Dots Studio prompts you to chose your favourite book from your childhood and use it as a source of inspiration.

I was trying to think of a single Children’s book to inspire my project for this assigment but it was so difficult. I loved books when I was younger and of course all the classics came to mind first – Red Riding Hood, all the Dr. Seuss books, all the princess stories... I couldn’t decide. Luckily, I happened upon a photo of my daughter and I sleeping on the couch together and instantly thought – Sleeping Beauty! I know a classic fairy tale with a princess theme doesn’t necessarily stir up images of dark and grungy papers, but I just love the way the Wonderland papers emphasize the tones in the photo. I like to think of it as a modern twist on an old classic!

Hi again!! I have a Little Darlings layout that I would like to share with you all today.

Totally love the softness of this collection and wanted to show how versatile it is.  Don't feel like you need to use this line for babies only!

Can you ever have too many layers??  Here is an example of layering to the max right!?

Bo Bunny has introduced a new challenge - Field Trip Friday! What is Field Trip Friday you ask? The designers were asked to step outside of their comfort zone and create something they would not normally create or scrap about.

For this assignment I had originally planned to scrap in a style completely different than what I am use to scrapping - clean and simple. Well.... that didn't work out too well as I kept adding layer upon layer and embellishment after embellishment. I instead decided to scrap a photo of my husband and I - well, mainly, my husband. Normally, the main subjects of my layouts are my children, primarily my daughter. Even though he'd never admit to it, I know my hubby gets a little jealous when there aren't any projects featuring him.

And They Lived...

What inspires you to create? Is it fantastic papers and embellishments? What about that perfect kodak moment captured by accident? Is it different elements found in nature - birds chirping, the sun shining brightly, the bold, bright colours in the flowers around you? For me it is a combination of all the above. The Bo Bunny designers were asked to create a project taking inspiration from the photo below.

When I saw this image it instantly reminded me of a vintage quilt. All the colours are so vibrant and the flowers, so feminine. I created this layout with these characteristics in mind. To mimic the pattern in the quilt, I added some stitching throughout my layout in a similar design.

I also used pieces from the Ambrosia Card kit (they have awesome chipboard pieces in this kit as well as cardstock elements, etc) and Mini Album to add dimension to my page.

Here you can see the zig-zag pattern I created from some of Bo Bunny's Rub-Ons.

The beautiful purple flowers and pearls are from ZVA Creative.
