An Altered Project

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share an altered birdfeeder that I completed last night.

I altered with some of Graphic 45's Renaissance Faire papers and adorned with Petaloo! I actually ended up painting the Dahlia Box Blend blooms from Petaloo and then adding some Mod Podge (Glossy) so that they would stand out a little. Looks like they took on a bit of a vinyl finish - not bad?

A little fussy cutting here, a little distress stickles here...

Although I primarily focus on layouts, every now and again I like to mix things up a bit to get the creative juices flowing! Try it next time you're in a bit of a rut - if you normally do cards, try a layout, if you normally do layouts, try an altered project or a mini album? You may surprise yourself!

Thanks for stopping by - be back tomorrow with another Petaloo project!

Pretty Baby

I couldn't wait to show this project! I was going to wait until June but thought - pffftt!

I really wanted to play up the pinks in my dd's jacket and hat - ZVA Creative to the rescue! They make the best bling ever! The Girls' Paperie patterned paper (Cabbage Rose) added the perfect element of fussy cutting and the scallop die cut from Crate Paper helped to keep a playful feel to the layout.

Did you know that they also make flowers?! The mini roses - ZVA. The medium sized roses - ZVA. The larger yellow roses - ZVA! How cool!?

Love this hot pink flourish!! So gorgeous and delicate.

This flourish features soft pink and hot pink tones - matched just perfectly with the colours in the project.

ZVA Products Used: CRS-02CB-110 (crystal flourish), CR-03CA-113 (crystal flourish), FLBK-02CA-117 (yellow roses), FLBK-02CA103 (mini pink roses), FLBK-02CA-112 (medium fushia roses).

The Lover

YEA!! Here is my first layout featuring some gorgeous bling from ZVA Creative! I was so excited when my package finally arrived! There is enough pearls, crystals, brads, blooms, etc in that box to last me...well, for the next 6 months anyhow.

For this layout, I wanted to keep it simple as there are a lot of textures already in place. The photo is the focal point so whatever I can do to draw attention to this is my goal.

I used the gorgeous Self-Adhesive Pearls, Serenity Swirls, Taupe (PE-03CA-115) from ZVA Creative for this layout as I felt the colours blended perfectly with the papers and overall colour scheme.

The papers are from Graphic 45's Le Romantique collection - perfect for those romantic wedding projects.

Have a great end of the week! Almost the weekend - hang in there!

Easy to Love

It was about a week or so ago that the kids and I headed to the field across from our house to run around and burn off some energy.

It was covered in dandilions - the blowy kind! The kids were in heaven.

I couldn't resist scrapping at least one of the photos - this layout just fell together when I found some Bo Bunny from my stash just dying to be used with the colours in my ds's shirt.

The blooms featured are Flora Doodles Small Daisy Box Blend (Teal/Brown), Large Daisy Box Blend (Cream/Brown) and Dahlia Box Blend Small (Cream/Brown) - all by Petaloo.

I decided to alter one of the large daisies. I simply took the centre and scrunched up the bottom and secured with an elastic. It seemed to give the bloom a more fluffy look - added a little distress stickles (vintage photo) and there you have it!

I also tried Rock Candy by Ranger on the butterflies - no likey! Maybe I just put a little TOO much on, but they seemed too salty or something. Will stick to the glossy accents next time.

Had some left over papers so decided to make a card (for someone who DOESN'T make cards I sure have been making alot lately - LOL) Used Petaloo's Tiffany's Treasure Jeweled Centres for the middle of the bow.

Walk Beside Me

I took this photo last weekend at my ds's t-ball game. My mother in law came to watch and ended up searching for pinecones with my dd. So cute. I made this for her birthday today - hope she loves it!

For this layout I used a heap of Petaloo! Flora Doodles Small Daisy Box Blend (teal/brown), Flora Doodles Value Pack, Fabrlc (by the sea), Flora Doodles Large Daisy Box Blend (cream/brown), Tiffany's Treasure Jewel Centres (blue sapphire) and Dazzler Sequins Value Pack!!

A little hint/tip: I purchased the swirl stickers at the dollar store - originally brown with gold flocking (ick). I simply painted with acrylic paint and ended up with totally useable flourishes.

The doily is from my local thrift store - running low, gotta pay 'em another visit I think! I found these gorgeous butterflies at Michaels. I think they're actually made from feathers? I Shimmerz Spritzed them with Eucalyptus to match the blues in the layout.

Have a wonderful (long) weekend! We're celebrating my dd's birthday on Monday - can't believe she's turing 2!!!

The First Time...

...Ever I saw your face... Isn't it amazing what technology can do in today's world! Here are a few 3D images of my friend's baby to be. She is due at the end of June and I stole (ahem, borrowed) these ultrasound photos from her to create a special keepsake for her baby shower next weekend.

I used Petaloo's Peony Box Blend as I felt that they had such a soft feel to them - so dainty and sweet - matched the photos just perfectly.

I also used some of Petaloo's Color Me Crazy embossed leaves and glimmer misted with Sweet Clover and Shimmerz Spritzed in Eucalyptus.

A little bling warmer upper before I receive my package from ZVA Creative(soon I hope!). The music paper is actually from an old piano book - I just tore out some pages, distressed the edges and sprayed one to match the project's color scheme.

Some Great News!

I was asked by Lori over at Scrap That! Kit Club if I wanted to guest with them for the month of July. When she told me what was going to be in the kit I just DROOLED!! Of course I agreed! Then, after chatting with Vicky their Kit Coordinator, I was told that she and Lori had hoped that I would join the team for a full term beginning in July! These kits are so amazingly gorgeous that I simply couldn't say no!

So yea! Happy to announce that I am now on the Design Team for Scrap That! Kit Club. A heads up - their May kit sold out quite quickly and I have a huge hunch that the June kit will follow suit! If you like the shabby chic style and like their previous kit you will DIE when you see the next kits they have in store - no fooling!! I'm already DONE my projects for July!!

Scrap That! also has an awesome forum with a ton of challenges and a killer gallery if you are in need of some scrappy inspiration! And of course, an online store - be sure to have a visit!

Just Checking In...

Hi All! Sorry its been awhile since I posted some projects. I've actually got two that I'm dying to share but am waiting on some "bling" for one and a few "blooms" for the other. Early next week - promise!!

There's an online crop going on this weekend at Scrapbook Star - Check out the awesome challenges our Design Team has for you - a little inspiration to get your creative juices flowing! The theme is Hollywood!!

Here's a layout I created with the May Kit featuring papers from Moxxie. My challenge was to create a layout with someone "Hamming it up" for the camera! My little guys were doing their best poses for me - Happy, Scared, Worried, Mad... so silly!!

Hope you have a happy scrappy weekend! I know I am!! (I was asked to be a guest designer for an amazing Canadian Kit Club... can't share who just yet but MAN, you are going to want this kit!!!)

Wedded Bliss

As a gift for my sweet brother in law and his lovely wife, I created this layout of the two of them on their wedding day this past October.

I was planning to feature the new Celebration blooms from Petaloo but I haven't yet received my box so.... might have to make a few more projects with these two lovebirds as my models!!

The GORGEOUS die cut is from Anna Griffin - how delicate - completely perfect for a wedding project - non? The Petaloo Blooms I used are Color Me Crazy Wild Roses, Color Me Crazy Embossed Leaves and Mulberry Street Wild Roses.

I wanted a soft and romantic feel for this layout to match the brides's skintone so I opted for some Kitchen Spice from Bo Bunny (both sides) and some Cottage Collection from Crate Paper.

Once again, the thick lace I found from Daiso - super cheap! I just inked it to add a little bit of a peach hue.

Simple Flower Tutorial

Ok, I've been asked numerous times to do a tutorial on my handmade paper roses so here we go!! I STILL don't have a flower punch but I find that this works on ANY flat flower - doesn't matter how many petals it has... 5, 6, 7 - whatever, the steps are the same and the results yeild a beautiful flower regardless. The only rule is that each flower 'layer' must be the same size.

For my flowers, I used Petaloo's Flora Doodles (Value pack) which were perfect.

ENJOY!!!
