So Sad...

That people do this kind of thing?? A company called Cradle's HappyBaby has used SEVERAL scrapbook layouts from OTHER designers (mine included) and simply slapped their own photo DIRECTLY over the original photo and claimed as their own and USED in their magazine!! I am appalled!!

Here is the link to the layout they stole from me - a RECENT layout I created for Petaloo.

Its just so sickening that people would do this? I am totally okay with people using my layouts for inspiration or even having people flat out lift my creations providing proper credit is given. When one of MY creations is flat out stolen, that is simply NOT okay. HORRID....

** UPDATE ** It seems as though the entire album has been removed from the online world - I cannot access the link now - a good thing (I told them to remove the photo ASAP!). Either FB has removed it due to all the complaints or the company has removed it. I think I may need to watermark my future work? Thank you all so very much for your support - means so much to me :>

So sad....
Tara use your blog link on your LOs picture so it will be harder for people to use it when it is your link on it...

So sorry this happened to you and other scrappers. Did you report it to Facebook?

thanks for your support ladies. I tried to submit a complaint to FB but they claim that they 'routinely' provide the accused party with your contact info - address, phone, etc - um, no thanks. I did send them the form however, with the accused party's contact info.....

I took a look at the site and it looks like they are just using layouts for backgrounds and it looks like it is a foreign-based site as well. They don't usually care about copyrights. I am so sorry that this happened to you and the other artitst. I hope you all are able to report this and something can be done to stop them from continuing this practice.

Oh Tara that is HORRIBLE!
I can spot your work instantly - you have an amazing and very distinctive style, so I am twice as amazed that anyone would try passing it off as their own. Just so wrong. So sorry, {{HUGS}} to you sweetie!

I think this is awful and have heard it happen to others - I can't get onto the link it says this page is unavailable temporarily or page is expired so I wonder what is happening...

I have seen people put digital watermarks on their photos which might help.

I am so sorry about this happening. I agree, your style is so unique, any of your followers would spot it immediately. I can't click on the link.

Wow, Tara...that is terrible! Your an awesome LO artist, and I know that I have looked at your work, and your work has inspired me to do things, but I just don't understand how someone could just TAKE what you have personally created and tried to credit it for themselves! I couldn't open the link, so I didn't see the what the culprit did...I would hope that there was something you could do!

oh i am sorry to read about this..i guess that is the height of envy when they take what isn't theirs and claim it to be theirs..especially in the way you described. i guess it is something to think about for all scrappers.. i love looking at everyone's work and wouldn't like to think that talented scrappers stop showing their work for fear of being ripped off.. perhaps we all should be putting a mark or signature on our work somewhere for copyright? what is the world coming to..
thanks for sharing your layouts.. i love them..

Tara you must start to watermark your layouts so this can not happen again. Unfortunately if (some) people think they can get away with it they will try. Hopefully a WM will make it much harder for others to pass off your beautiful work as their own. I can only imagine how annoyed you feel.

So sorry to hear about this. You have a distinct style which I'm sure is envied by many.By all means use a watermark but please don't let this keep you from sharing your work. It appears this unethical company is based in the Phillipines.

Gosh Tara- so sorry to hear about this- what a cheek!! For the person that did this and for the people that published it! Glad they have removed it. It must be so heartbreaking to see all your hardwork being claimed by someone else. Sounds like watermarks might be the way to go. Lots of people - especially me- really enjoy seeing your work on your blog and would hate to think that you would be too scared to post it!

Thanks too for your lovely comments on my blog- i'm honoured that you look at my little blog and take the time to comment!

Hugs
Francine

happend to me before.. since that time I write my name in every layout that goes on the net .. seems childish or snobbish but .. there is a reason for doing so.
Sweet Tara.. I am soo sorry this happenend to you too. It's painfull.. on the other hand if you have to think of something positive about this.. at least they admire your work.. but it's far from correct. Noticed this morning the album is offline.. there are several designers that complained about this.
Something different. *BIG KISS* for your sweet card. Sweetie it meant the world to me.. you have no idea!!
thank you SOO much!!

That is terrible!!! It's flat out awful that someone could do such a thing! I know how much work and detail goes into each and every one of your projects, and to have someone claim it as their own...It sickens me!

I am so glad that someone has clued in and removed the layout. How did you happen to find it in the first place? I am just glad that you did and that you took action and made it public!

Oh that is so horrible Tara! Although I can totally understand why they would want to use your layouts as all your work is gorgeous but it is so shocking that they would just steal it like that! :(
